Our values

The RedBlackTree Way

How we build products, together. These seven values aren't a poster. They're how we hire, promote, celebrate and, when we have to, part ways.

Seven Core Values

Ownership without ego

We act like founders of the products we build.

  • Fix a production issue at night or on a weekend without waiting to be assigned.
  • Write the runbook or monitoring alert that stops it happening again.
  • Say "I got this wrong, and here's how we'll make sure it never happens again" on the client call. No blame, no excuses.

Craftsmanship over checklists

We ship code we're proud to put our name on.

  • Refactor a messy pull request before merging, even if it already works.
  • Add meaningful tests when the story only asked for functionality.
  • Leave the codebase cleaner than we found it, and call out technical debt early with a plan to pay it down.

Speed and quality: never choose one

Startup velocity with enterprise reliability.

  • Ship production-ready features in days, not weeks, without cutting testing or security.
  • Automate the repetitive work, and use feature flags and canary releases to ship big changes safely.
  • Call it done only when it's in production and monitoring says it's healthy.

Candour and continuous feedback

We care personally and challenge directly.

  • Give specific feedback within 24 hours, never saved up for the quarterly review.
  • Run a blameless post-mortem the same week something breaks.
  • Praise people publicly, with exactly what they did and which value it showed.

Client success is our success

Their metrics are our metrics.

  • Suggest improvements the client hasn't thought of yet.
  • Measure our work by the client's outcomes (sign-ups, revenue, uptime), not story points.
  • Join a client call at 10 pm India time when their US team is in a crisis, and turn a critical hotfix around immediately.

Learn fast, teach faster

Mastery shared is mastery multiplied.

  • Spend four to six hours a week on deliberate learning.
  • Give an internal tech talk every quarter, and pair on the hard problems.
  • Mentor juniors because we want them to outgrow us.

One team, many backgrounds

Proudly Indian at our core, deliberately global in mindset.

  • Seek out perspectives from different regions, languages and experiences before deciding.
  • Celebrate regional festivals, languages and food together.
  • Make room for family through flexible timings and remote-friendly collaboration.

How we live our values

Everyday culture

How we live it

Monthly RBT Star Awards, each tied to a specific value and story; anyone can nominate a colleague. Every hiring, promotion and performance conversation is anchored in these seven values.

Client impact

Why it matters to clients

People stay at RedBlackTree, some for 10 to 14 years, so the knowledge of a client's business stays with the team that serves it.
